Sorane: I want to attract dreams with positive words and give energy and courage to those who listen.

Profile

Sorane
Born in 2001, 19 years old. Originally from Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture.
He has been attracting attention from early listeners since he was in high school, and the music video for "Hug feat. kojikoji (Album ver.)," a track from his debut album "Fantasy club" released in December 2019, became a huge hit, with over 20 million views on YouTube. His second album, "19FACT," released on June 24, 2020, reached number one on Apple Music's "Hip Hop/Rap" chart and number six on the "Overall" chart.
The lead song "Fight me feat. yonkey" caused a big stir, being selected for rotation on FM802 heavy rotation and other stations across the country.
He released his third album, "TREASURE BOX," on December 16th. He is an artist who has gone beyond the boundaries of the hip-hop genre and is supported by a wide range of listeners.

Sorane released her third album, "TREASURE BOX," on December 16th. This album, which includes the unexpected collaboration with CreepHyp, "Douse, Ai Da feat. CreepHyp," is a special work that expresses her breaking out of her shell and becoming an adult as she approaches the age of 20. Packed with songs more vibrant than the colors of the rainbow, this album is truly a treasure trove. We spoke to Sorane, whose momentum is unstoppable, to find out how she feels.

My mother taught me important things and was like a guidepost

I turned down a job offer in my third year of high school to pursue a career in music, but I now lead a life that I never imagined I would have when I was in high school. My world has expanded thanks to the support of the people I work with.

My mother is the one who pushes me forward. I learn a lot from her about how to approach music and dreams, and how to treat others. I respect her way of life and way of thinking, as well as her attitude of taking on challenges no matter how old she is.

One of the things my mother taught me is the "Law of Attraction." Dreams are made up of lots of tiny particles, and the more positive words you say, the bigger those particles become, and the more you can attract your dreams. Ever since my mother taught me the power of words, I've made it a point to speak positive words. It's actually worked, so I think it's amazing.

■ I want to be in a position to give energy and courage.

So, just like my mother taught me, I want to tell everyone who listens to my songs that "anyone can do it if they try hard enough, and their dreams can come true." If you have the strength to believe in yourself and the desire to love something enough to overcome the hard times, you can definitely do anything. As an artist, I also struggle when writing lyrics, but on the flip side, it's a blessing to be able to worry about something you love. Every day, there are small struggles, but with all the fun right in front of me, I might not notice them.

Even if I'm feeling negative, I try not to show it in my songs. Artists are supposed to give energy and courage, so I think it's pointless if the people who listen to them lose even more energy. That's why I try to make positive statements. I want to make songs that give people hope for life when they listen to my songs.

■ Thoughts on the 3rd Album "TREASURE BOX"

This album is a treasure trove of vibrant songs and my favorite things from my personal life. I'm very happy to be able to release such an important album at such an important time in my life, just before I turn 20. The cat on the cover is my pet cat. The ring is also something I actually own, so it's a collection of things that I cherish. I hope people will listen to it whenever they want, and treat it like a toy whenever they want.

I wrote "Only One" with the hope that it would inspire young people with dreams to start something new. This song is the second chapter of what I wanted to say in "Scrap and Build," and I think I was able to put into the song my one and only philosophy on music, the person that is Sorane, what I want to do, and my voice. When you think about it, the lyrics say, "I'm proud of this, I've invited CreepHyp to appear as a guest," which is quite an amazing thing. Until a few years ago, it would have been unthinkable to be able to perform with CreepHyp, whose songs I covered in high school, and I don't think anyone expected it either, so I think I've pleasantly surprised everyone. In that sense, this song is special.

I released three albums at the age of 19, but if you listen to the lyrics, expression, and melody of my latest release, "TREASURE BOX," I think you'll get a sense of how I break out of my shell and grow into an adult with each step.

■It would be amazing if my music became background music in everyone's lives.

I've been able to get this far by a miracle, but I believe there are many things in this world that anyone can achieve if they put their mind to it. We live in an age where anyone can have dreams, so I think it would be interesting if young people followed in my footsteps, just as I followed my favorite artists. My current goal is to perform at a large venue while I'm still in my 20s. I want to show my grandparents I'm active in various fields before they go to heaven, so I'm working with my team to make this happen soon. But more than that, I think the best thing is to keep creating great songs myself. It's important to listen to music because you want to, but I also think it's important for it to be a part of your everyday life, like birds chirping. My challenge is to make my music a part of the background music of your life.

In 2020, I think there were many people who couldn't achieve what they wanted to do or make new friends. But I think the fact that you were able to go to university to pursue your dreams is amazing in itself. You may feel like the world is lonely, but I hope that everyone will continue to work hard and never give up on anything. I hope to become an artist who can encourage people like you.
