Yosuke Sugino: Understanding with his head and heart, he continues to challenge and pursue "careful manufacturing"

Yosuke Sugino (Yosuke Sugino)

Born September 18, 1995. Made his acting debut in the film "Kiseki - Sobito of that day". Recent appearances include the dramas "Nao-chan is a Third Grader" and "Kyojo II", the stage play "Long Journey to Night", and the film "Tokyo Revengers". He is also set to appear in "Koi Desu! ~Yankee-kun to Hakujou Girl~" (NTV, starting October 6th).

■About the drama "My Sister"

When I first read the original work, I honestly thought, "The older sister gets to the heart of the matter and it's interesting." Every word the older sister says can be harsh, but it also makes you chuckle. I was sometimes surprised by the impact of her words. But as the story progressed, I realized that it was because she truly cares about her younger brother, and I thought it was a heartwarming story. In order to convey this to the viewers, I approached filming with the utmost care to be "natural" and "keep a distance from others," and to create a worldview that would make people chuckle.

■What is the appeal of being an actor?

I believe that creating a single work can bring joy to many people. In fact, before the self-restraint measures imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, I didn't enjoy acting so much as I enjoyed interacting with many people. As a result, during the self-restraint period, I sometimes wondered whether I should pursue acting as a career. However, experiencing the joy of communicating with others on stage gave me the opportunity to discover the joy of acting. And the process of feeling, thinking about, and conveying the meaning of each line and prop made me think, "I want to value creating things more carefully." This is why I want to understand with my heart, not just with my head, and continue to challenge and pursue acting to the best of my ability.
