Hayato Isomura: Expressing a lively performance on set. Sailing around the world, believing that a treasure chest that doesn't exist exists somewhere.

His major appearances include the dramas "Hiyokko", "From Today, It's My Turn!!", "Mothers in Love", and the movie "Tokyo Revengers". WOWOW original drama "Kinnikuman THE LOST LEGEND"
(broadcast and streaming starts October 8th), and is also scheduled to appear in the film version of "What Did You Eat Yesterday?" (released November 3rd). In December, he will appear in the stage play "Mud Mermaid".
■About the movie "What Did You Eat Yesterday?"
One of the themes of the film is "meals." In these times, meals can sometimes feel lonely, but I hope that by watching this film, viewers will feel the warmth of the precious time spent eating with someone. I also want people to see the "depth of love" that applies to many different people. Gilbert in the film is a charming character that is hard to hate. In order to understand him, I had to learn about homosexuality and LGBT. At the same time, I also felt that I just needed to live the role as a human being.
■Please tell us about your mindset as an actor.
I want to cherish the set. If I were to just show my character development on set, it would end up being a self-centered performance. There are other actors and staff on set, and we all work together to create the production. And acting is a living thing; you can never produce the same thing twice. That's why I want to cherish the set, where we all work together to create the production. There is no right answer when it comes to productions and acting; you always need to change and grow. I think that's why I can't stop being an actor.
■Please give us a message for university students
I'm sure there are people who are struggling as the COVID-19 pandemic hits them during the crucial four years of their university life. However, I also believe that those who are able to experience these difficult times are special. "Isn't it interesting to live in times like these?" I think that if we can just turn the fact that we're living in these turbulent times into a little joy, we can see hope. I hope that people don't become too negative, but broaden their horizons and see the truth and the world with their own eyes.
