We are an entertainment company that plans, develops, manufactures and sells toys, capsule toys, cards, sweets, food, apparel, and daily necessities, delivering "dreams, fun and excitement" to people all over the world.
■Please tell us about the characteristics of the industry.
Bandai and BANDAI SPIRITS are often categorized as part of the toy industry, but they plan, manufacture, and sell a wide range of products and services, including toys, food, apparel, household goods, plastic models, and prizes. They are not bound by existing frameworks and are developing a business that delivers "dreams, fun, and excitement" to people all over the world, so it might be better to call them part of the entertainment industry.
Entertainment is not a daily necessity, but it is essential as something that nourishes people's souls. Recently, due to the impact of COVID-19, products that capture demand for home entertainment, such as plastic models, which parents and children can enjoy at home, have attracted attention both domestically and internationally. In addition, the digital field has grown remarkably, and we would like to strengthen our comprehensive approach, combining digital and physical media.
■What kind of students are you looking for?
Our human resources policy is "One Spirit, One Talent." In order to deliver "Dreams, Fun, and Inspiration" to people all over the world, we utilize the abilities of our diverse employees to create fun from various angles. For this reason, we don't require specific skills or abilities. However, since our job is to "move people's hearts," we think that people who enjoy empathizing with others and trying new and interesting things would be a good fit for us. Even young employees have a lot of discretion, and it's possible to propose and realize product plans from their first year after graduation. For these reasons, we think this is a fun environment for people who can act independently.
■Please give us a message for university students
I'm sure we all have things we're passionate about and interested in right now. When you analyze yourself during your job search, you may lose confidence and wonder if your experience is superior to others. However, those experiences are unique to you and are important because they have shaped who you are. Be confident in the choices you have made and the things you value. Although the impact of COVID-19 may limit what you can do, work hard at the things you want to do.
