■Please tell us your mindset towards work
Acting involves experiences that are far removed from everyday life, such as greeting people you meet for the first time and working in a variety of different occupations. Filming begins with rehearsals, followed by tests and the actual performance. While the entire series of events is fictional, I try to approach it as if it were non-fiction in my mind.
When I was a student, I was desperate to keep up with my studies by asking my classmates for help with assignments and borrowing and copying their notes. Because of this, I don't have many happy memories, but I feel that I have been able to have experiences that I would never have had if I hadn't chosen this profession. I've been in this industry since I was 19, so I don't really think of myself as a celebrity, but I do feel like I'm in a very strange world.
■What do you value most in your work?
When you're in this industry, you tend to go in the direction that everyone else thinks is good. At times like that, the presence of seniors who teach you that it's okay to be yourself is very important. I'm very grateful to my seniors and friends who help me get my bearings and help me be my normal, natural self, rather than relying on some kind of model answer. I want to continue to approach each job carefully and continue to share what I truly believe is good. If I'm not true to myself, I'm sure I'll regret it. It all comes back to myself, so I want to move forward with a strong will.

While it's great to receive advice from many different people, it can also make you forget about the dreams you're aiming for. Time is limited, so I hope you'll think carefully about what you really want to do and act accordingly. I hope you'll take a good look at yourself and make a choice.
■After the interview
Iitoyo-san faces herself and does each job carefully. In the entertainment industry, it's easy to get carried away, but I was reminded of the importance of having your own opinion. I would like to face myself and act accordingly.
