■ Impressions from attending the preview (May 2, 2022)

I had seen the Art Aquarium on my friend's Instagram, so I knew about it, but to my embarrassment, I mistakenly thought it only had a few dozen rare goldfish.

The moment I stepped through the noren curtain, I was greeted by countless goldfish, and it was so beautiful that I was busy taking pictures.

Above all, the presentation was wonderful, bringing out the beauty of the goldfish, and the music was filled with drums and string instruments that symbolized the Japanese spirit. The way the light refracted through the tank in time with the music was a joy that can only be experienced by seeing it with your own eyes. I was also surprised to see coral among the colorful decorations. I was impressed by the idea of combining flowers, coral, and timber.

Every exhibit had an impact, and I was fascinated by all of them. My favorite exhibit was the New Goldfish Appraisal. Unlike the circular tanks I've seen up until now, these are square tanks, with several of them lined up. Each piece has a different concept, and the intensity and color of the light is different. The sight of the pots arranged in the darkness, floating in the air, is very mystical, and each goldfish species is different, so I never got bored of looking at them. I also enjoyed watching the color of the light change throughout the exhibit, which changed the appearance of the works completely depending on the color. I was surprised at how much the way you perceive them changes depending on the color of the light.

This was my first time viewing the exhibition, and I thought it was a space that allowed me to have various perspectives through the colors and reflections, and stimulated my imagination. As I walked along, feeling the meaning of each concept and thinking about it, the question "What is it trying to express?" began to run deep in my mind.

The beauty of life reflected in the goldfish also felt fleeting. When the light was red, I intuitively felt a burning passion, and when it was blue, a refined life. When viewed from various angles, the reflection of the water made the goldfish appear very large, and there were many interesting things to see from a scientific perspective.

The Lanternrium zone had an atmosphere that felt like a gateway to another world, which really piqued my curiosity. I felt like I was in a story and could imagine a world that was unreal.

The world of Art Aquarium, which combines not only visual colors but also scents and music, is exquisitely beautiful, and I felt that art has a strong power to appeal to the human heart.

I was impressed by the works on display, not only by the beautiful dancing goldfish, but also by the fantastical effect of the light, sound, and scent on the entire space. Watching the goldfish swimming gracefully in the tanks lit up with colorful lights was very soothing, and at the same time, the majestic music and wonderful scents made me feel like I was in an extraordinary place.

In addition to the lanterns and paper lanterns, there was also the sound of water chimes resonating, reminiscent of Nakatsu Shrine and Japanese gardens in Enoshima, and I felt a sense of harmony with my whole body. It was a wonderful museum where I could forget the passage of time.
