A new a cappella festival taking place in Odaiba

A new a cappella festival will be held over two days, August 27th (Sat) and 28th (Sun), 2022, at Odaiba Aqua City and will be comprised of three stages. The festival will be led by university students, and with a few exceptions, most of the key positions on the executive committee are also made up of university students.

For the past two and a half years during the COVID-2 pandemic, students have been deprived of a space where they could make memories. This summer, we want to provide them with a place to make memories. This event was started with that thought in mind.

I want to make it a place that everyone will remember.

Initially, the plan was to limit the number of participants to a maximum of 120 groups, but once applications began, the number of applications far exceeded expectations. This excited the organizing committee, but also strengthened their desire to "allow as many students as possible to participate."

Organizing a festival in its first year is extremely difficult, but we worked tirelessly to coordinate with all parties involved and significantly increased the number of performing acts, ultimately putting in place a system that would allow for 192 acts to perform.

We want to create a space full of memories that the performers and students involved in the organizing committee will want to return to with their friends, lovers, and families in the years to come.

This idea motivated the executive committee.

Creating an unprecedented a cappella space

Previous a cappella festivals have tended to have relatively modest stages, but Seaside Street Tokyo will feature luxurious and photogenic stage decorations on all three stages.

Each stage is divided into different concepts, making it a stage that gives you a summery feeling.

VINTAGE WHITE STAGE

Aqua City's largest event space, "Aqua Arena"

Here, a white-themed stage reminiscent of an overseas house party is created.

A cappella singers sing on a luxurious stage decorated with plants and sofas.

OCEAN BRIDGE STAGE

The deck space on the 5th floor of Aqua City is a pleasant stage where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Tokyo's cityscape and Tokyo Bay with the Rainbow Bridge in the background.

The stage is designed with an American vintage feel, and the night view is exceptional.

LOVE SEASIDE STAGE

Just after getting off at Daiba Station, a stage decorated in pink with the theme of LOVE will appear on the West Promenade.

Directly next to it is the Statue of Liberty, the symbol of Odaiba, making for a setting with a very open feel.
