AUTUMN/WINTER
■ Thoughts on Tokyo Girls Collection
兼近大樹
I went to Tokyo Girls Collection with a burning desire to "turn the world upside down!". We all wanted to work together to send a message from Japan to the world and accomplish something big. Today, too, it felt like the world was about to be turned upside down for a moment. (Laughs) The customers had their feet pointed up and their faces turned down. (Laughs)
Rintaro.
I would flip everything he flipped over and put it back in its original position (laughs).
We both wanted to turn it over, but he was quicker! I want to keep turning it over again and again until the very end!
■The appeal of Tokyo Girls Collection
兼近大樹
I feel everywhere that many people are joining forces to create one thing. In the end, it's me, the person who is creating it. (Laughs) But it's you all who make me who I am, so I think Tokyo Girls Collection exists because of all of you.
Rintaro.
I think Tokyo Girls Collection has many entrances. It's a wonderful place in that it's an entertainment venue that can be enjoyed by customers from all walks of life. When we say entrances, we mean "entrance", so please check it out in the description section!
■ Job satisfaction
兼近大樹
When I'm talking to people from all walks of life, there are moments when I think, "Huh? Did I slip up?" Of course, I get anxious, and there are times when I can't do anything. But it's exciting to feel the thrill of knowing that something might work out.
Rintaro.
Until I met Kanechika-kun, I had never lived a life where I was needed by others, so now I feel rewarded that many people want me and that there are people who are happy with the work I do. Many people spoke to me on the public roads during the 24-Hour TV program. I would like to continue to work hard so that I can respond to the voices of those who want me.
■What is something that a fan said to you that made you happy?
Rintaro.
The thing that made me happiest was being called "Rin-sama"! I never thought I'd end up being called "sama" in my life (lol).
兼近大樹
I am "Buddha."
Rintaro.
Is he really that revered?! (laughs)
兼近大樹
I'm really happy when people say "Wheeey" to me on the street.
I do agree when people ask me to. I once thought someone wanted me to do something for them, so I offered to take a photo with an older man sitting behind me as a fan service, but he declined, saying, "Oh, it's okay." (laughs)
Rintaro.
Kanechika-san, you unexpectedly turn down the offer! What would you do in such a situation?
兼近大樹
I would force myself to go, saying, "Okay, okay, let's take a picture, let's take a picture!!" (laughs)
■What I want to accomplish in the future
兼近大樹
All my fingers crack really easily (lol) I'm aiming for the world record for this!
Rintaro.
I think that even among comedians, we have tried to appear in a variety of content without discrimination. From now on, I hope that through this experience, I can become a bridge that connects various content, and also a guide that connects people.
兼近大樹
What he's saying is a quote from what I said before. (Laughs)
■Message to students
Rintaro.
When I quit soccer, which I had been focusing on at university, to enter this world, I was filled with a sense of guilt, as if I had betrayed my parents. At the time, I even felt that I had wasted all four years. However, after becoming a comedian, I became more sought after and the number of jobs related to soccer also increased. In the end, I believe that nothing is wasted, and it is up to each individual to find meaning in everything they do.
兼近大樹
I'm 31 now, and I feel like everything from the time I was born until I was 31 has been a waste. (laughs) Basically, if you think that you'll eventually forget everything, you can feel motivated to try your best again from tomorrow. If you think of each day as starting from zero, you won't lose your enthusiasm.
