Masataka Kubota: The appeal of acting is that you have to sacrifice yourself to create a work

An actor Masataka Kubota(Masataka Kubota)
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1988, he made his acting debut in 2006. In 2022, he will appear in films such as "Radiation House: The Movie," "My Broken Mariko," and "A Certain Man." In 2023, he will be releasing "Yudo" and "Sweet My Home."
What made you become an actor?
He attended a technical high school, but at the time he never imagined he would become an actor. During the day he learned welding and machining at school, and after school he would devote himself to his beloved motorcycles. His mother, unable to bear seeing him like that, applied for an audition, which was how he entered the entertainment industry.
This job allows me to meet a lot of people, and I find the act of acting itself, where you put your all into creating a piece of work, very appealing.

I was conscious of "subtraction" as the theme of the work. The film is stripped of all unnecessary elements, such as only sound and facial expressions. I spoke directly to my manager and told him that I wanted to do this job. For the first time in my career, I accompanied the location scouting and even got to observe some of the production stages. It was a different experience from previous filmings, as I joined the filming site after it was already completed.
By sharing with others, the way I see things has changed, and I think I've discovered a joy that I hadn't felt before. I think that being involved in the film production has also allowed me to capture different expressions and movements in the footage.

Never lose sight of yourself, no matter what. If you change your perspective, even things you've thought of as complexes can become your unique strength. No matter what happens, don't lie to yourself and live for yourself. Enjoy your own life!
■After the interview
I was very impressed when he mentioned that he was attending acupuncture school. He spoke openly about his private life, and I could sense his passion for acting even from his personal life. I was deeply moved by how sincerely he spoke to me.
