On the day, the lecturer will be Haruko Kawashima, Representative Director/CEO of Women's Leadership Institute, Inc., which is committed to developing female leaders.
With the theme of "increasing options for the future," we gave advice on how to choose one's own path and career.

■Workshop: From Haruko Kawashima
Your future is a treasure trove of possibilities. Rather than limiting your own possibilities, I want you to think about what criteria to use to choose from the many possibilities and how to plan your life. If you have even a vague idea of what you want to do now, it can come true. At the same time, as an adult, you will be able to experience more than you ever imagined when you were in high school.

In junior high school, I loved English and wanted to share its joy with as many people as possible, so I aspired to become an English teacher. However, when I went to study in the United States as a high school student, I realized that what I wanted to do wasn't to learn English, but to learn about the interactions and cultural differences that arise through English. If English wasn't what I wanted to do, then what job should I do?
While I was unsure of my career path, I met the mayor of Shimizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, during a visit to the United States that was being advertised by my local government. This encounter gave me the opportunity to think about working for others and what it would be like to work there, and I ended up working as secretary to the mayor of Shimizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

I have now found work that changes society, such as developing female leaders and giving lectures, but all my experiences up to now have definitely connected the dots. Nothing is wasted. That's why I want you to put all your effort into what's in front of you and pursue what you love.

We live in an age of diversity. Having so many options can be a challenge. However, choosing from among them and pursuing your own individuality is what makes it fun.
So, how can you find a job that you can be passionate about? First of all, it's important to know what kind of jobs are available. Keep your eyes open and learn about jobs you don't know about. Then understand what you like and what you're good at. Knowing your job makes it easier to set goals, and knowing what you like and what you're good at will change the speed at which you grow in the future. If you don't know what you're good at, be sure to get opinions from people close to you. You'll be able to find out how others perceive you.

Based on the novel "Angel Flight: International Funeral Repatriation Specialist" by Ryoko Sasa, which won the 10th Kaiko Takeshi Non-Fiction Award, this is a one-episode human drama that depicts the work of an international funeral repatriation specialist who crosses borders to deliver bodies to their families. Set in a small company called "Angel Hearth" with its office inside Haneda Airport, the story follows the exploits of its eccentric employees, led by the foul-mouthed but kind-hearted female president, Nami Izawa (Ryoko Yonekura).

This work deals with the profession of international funeral director, which is not a familiar one in everyday life, but it made me realize that there are people who work in any profession with special ``feelings.''
Dealing with death is dealing with life. These are the words of Nami, played by Yonekura. In order for the bereaved to accept the death and move on, the time to say their final goodbyes is very important.
I was touched by Nami, who works with the mission of delivering not only the bodies but also the thoughts of the deceased.

The body that was supposed to be repatriated to Japan was lost, and the family had given up, but the main character, Nami, did not care about the danger and did not give up until the very end, and succeeded in delivering the body to the family. It was impressive, and I felt Nami's passion for her work, and I wanted to work with that same passion myself.
I had always placed importance on what I liked and what I was good at when choosing a job, but when I saw Nami deliver the body to the bereaved family and receive their gratitude, I realized that by choosing a job that is rewarding in addition to what I like and what I'm good at, I can be more passionate about my work.
