Honda Miyu Life is a series of regrets. That's why I use regrets as motivation to continue challenging myself.

Actress and figure skater Miyu Honda(Honda Miyu)

■ Profile
Born June 1, 2004, in Kyoto Prefecture. She began her entertainment career at the age of three, and gained attention for her appearance in the TV drama "Kaseifu no Mita." She has since appeared in the TV drama "Shounen no Abyss" (MBS, 2022) and the film "Soreike! Gateball Sakura Gumi" (scheduled for release on May 12, 2023). She is also active as a figure skater.

What was the turning point in your life?

I think the biggest factor was appearing in "Kaseifu no Mita." I had been auditioning for a while, and finally got the role. Apparently, on the way home from the final audition, I said, "Only Miyu can play the role of Kii-chan" (laughs). That's how much of a spark there was in me.
Once the drama started airing, people started calling me by my character's name in the streets more and more, and I became very attracted to this kind of acting, where I could "become someone other than myself." After "Kaseifu no Mita," I want to keep my eyes open so that I don't miss the chance to come across another work that will be a turning point for me.

What is difficult about juggling two jobs?

I've never found figure skating or acting difficult because I decided to do them myself. However, there were times when I worried about "simply continuing." At times like that, Hiraizumi Sei, who I worked with on "Kaseifu no Mita," told me, "It's amazing that you've found so many things you love." Those words made me realize that if you love something, you don't have to give up. I hope that by continuing, someone who sees me will be inspired to try harder.

◆Please give us a message for the students.

People tend to think that life progresses through happy things like success and passing exams. Of course, that's not wrong, but when you experience disappointment or hardship, you may move in a different direction than you imagined and live a life that is unique to you. There are people you met because of that failure. I hope you will cherish those difficult events as well.

■After the interview
I believe that it is precisely because she has continued to work hard without turning away from difficult experiences that she has been able to succeed in both worlds. I myself am one of those people who have been encouraged by seeing Honda-san's hard work. I hope that those who read this article will be able to understand Honda-san's thoughts and find the courage to take on new challenges.
