1st place Shin Ji-ae(Jiyai Shin) *Prize for first place: 54,000,000 yen

My father wanted me to become an athlete, which is why I started playing golf. I was originally a shy person, but as I got better at golf, I gained confidence and became able to speak in front of people. I guess golf has now become a way for me to promote myself.
The best thing about golf is that you can feel nature and that it can be played by people of all ages and genders. I don't think there are many sports that you can play in nature with people of all ages.
(Yusuke Suzuki, 3rd year student at Hosei University)

2nd place: Akie Iwai(Akie Iwai) *Prize money: 26,400,000 yen

When I was in the second grade of elementary school, I accompanied my father on a golf game and found it fun, so I started playing golf. I had always loved soccer, and had been on a club team since elementary school, but golf was the sport in which I achieved the best results, so I decided to focus solely on golf when I was in high school.
Golf allows you to experience a wide range of emotions, including joy, anger, sadness, and happiness, and when you hit a miracle shot or a birdie, the fans will shout, "Nice birdie!" and you can all enjoy the game together.
(Saeki Sakura, second-year student at Hosei University)

3rd place: Erika Kikuchi(Erika Kikuchi) *Prize: 21,000,000 yen

My father was a golf teaching professional, so that's how I got into golf. I've been playing golf for as long as I can remember, so I don't think I ever really considered quitting.
Golf is a sport where even if you think you've gotten better, there are endless plays that seem difficult. The best part of golf is striving to reach new heights with no clear limits. If you have this spirit of inquiry, I'm sure you'll become addicted to golf.
(Yusuke Suzuki, 3rd year student at Hosei University)

Tied for 4th place: Ritsuko Kasa(Ritsuko Ryu) *Prize: 12,000,000 yen

My family has run a driving range since my grandfather's time, so I started playing golf before I knew it. I started when I was in the first grade of elementary school, and after joining a golf club team called Sakata Juku, I began aiming to become a professional.
The appeal of golf is that it is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from young people to the elderly. I am glad that I have been able to connect with people of all ages through golf.
(Maeda Renho, second year student at Chuo University)

4th place tie: Yuri Yoshida(Yuri Yoshida) *Prize: 12,000,000 yen

I started playing golf when my father, who loved golf, took me to practice sessions, and I've been playing for about 10 years.
In golf, the more you practice, the more results you will get. For this reason, I try not to waste any time in my daily practice. I am particular about practicing while considering the balance between quantity and quality so that I can practice efficiently within the limited time I have.
(Aio Miura, third year student at Bukkyo University)

Tied for 4th place: Nana Suganuma(Nana Suganuma) *Prize money: 12,000,000 yen

The first time I held a club, my father took me to a driving range. I was five years old at the time, but I remember having fun hitting the ball.
When I was a junior, I missed out on winning and had many disappointing experiences. However, I continued playing golf because I enjoyed it. I think the appeal of golf is that various emotions arise as you play 18 holes, and that you can continue playing even as you get older.
(Yusuke Suzuki, 3rd year student at Hosei University)

4th place: Tai Sai Payin(Pei-Ying Tsai) *Prize: 12,000,000 yen

My father told me, "You should learn a trade someday," which is what got me started playing golf. I was attracted to the fact that golf is a sport that can be played throughout one's life and can be enjoyed by both men and women.
Another attraction of golf is that it is an individual sport, so you can complete everything by yourself. I was attracted to the idea that you can make up for your own mistakes.
(Maeda Renho, second year student at Chuo University)

Tied for 10th place: Sato Kokoro(Miyu Sato) *Prize money: 4,752,000 yen

I started playing golf when my grandfather gave me a set of junior golf clubs as a Christmas present. When I started playing, I had no intention of going professional, but as I continued playing, I began to think that I wanted to become a professional.
I believe golf is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and genders, and I was very happy to be able to talk to people of all ages at this pro-am.
(Maeda Renho, second year student at Chuo University)

Tied for 10th place: Chirei Iwai(Chisato Iwai) *Prize: 4,752,000 yen

Daiki Shimada, third-year student at Kokugakuin University / Yusuke Suzuki, third-year student at Hosei University

My father took me to a driving range to make time for my mother, who was busy raising children, and that's how I started playing golf.
At first, I didn't really understand golf, so I just kept hitting the ball, trying to make it fly. When I hit the ball well and got the distance, it felt great, and I think this pleasure is the reason I continue playing golf. Even now, the best part of golf is the pleasure I get when I hit a nice shot.
(Yusuke Suzuki, 3rd year student at Hosei University)

16th place tie: Mami Fukuda(Mami Fukuda) *Prize money: 3.240,000 yen

At my father's suggestion, I started playing golf at the age of 10. At first, I had no intention of taking it up seriously, and only went to the driving range occasionally.
However, when I joined the golf club in junior high school, I thought, "If I'm going to do it, I want to work hard and aim to become a professional," and I started to take golf seriously. In golf, the outcome really depends on you. I think this battle with yourself is what makes golf so enjoyable.
(Yusuke Suzuki, 3rd year student at Hosei University)

Tied for 18th place: Momoko Ueda(Momoko Ueda) *Prize: 2,400,000 yen

The reason I started playing golf was because I had always wanted to do something different from other people since I was a child, and I didn't have any friends who played golf.
I think the best part of golf is that there is never a day when you feel like you've "done it." Even if you don't "done it," it's fun to have that moment when you get a sense of "maybe it's like this," or when the ball and your body movement link up as you envisioned and you hit a good shot, or when you feel like you can do even more. I will continue to do my best to play impressive golf.
(Saeki Sakura, second-year student at Hosei University)

18th place: Bae Sung-woo(Seonwoo Bae) *Prize money: 2,400,000 yen

I started playing golf at the age of 10, hoping that three generations of my family could play golf together. I've been a fan of Arashi's Ninomiya Kazunari since high school, and golf gave me the opportunity to come to Japan, so I was very happy.
The reason I play in Japan is because when I was little, I saw Jeon Mi-jeong playing in Japan and admired her for being so cool. In Korea, players retire as soon as they get older, so their careers are short, but in Japan there are many veteran players who are active, and I respect them, so it's an environment where I can just concentrate on golf.
(Saeki Sakura, second-year student at Hosei University)

Aio Miura, third year student at Bukkyo University

23rd place tie: Shoko Sasaki(Shoko Sasaki)

I started playing golf after seeing the World Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony on TV. I was so impressed by the speech given by professional golfer Isao Aoki that I decided to take up the sport.
I started when I was in the third grade of elementary school, but as I got older, I felt more and more strongly that golf was the only thing for me. Now that I'm a professional, I feel it's very rewarding to be able to communicate and give courage to those who watch. I will continue to work hard, aiming to win.
(Aio Miura, third year student at Bukkyo University)

Tied for 28th place: Mao Nozawa(Mao Nozawa)

I started playing golf when I was 10 years old because my mother played golf. Since I was going to start anyway, I didn't want to do it half-heartedly, but rather take it seriously, so I enrolled in Sakata Juku and worked hard.
I like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, and it is because of these great seniors that I can continue to play with such a sense of awe and enjoyment. I will continue to do my best, being myself.
(Saeki Sakura, second-year student at Hosei University)

Tied for 28th place: Yuting Seki(Yuting Seki)

I first learned about golf during summer vacation when I was seven years old. My father took me to practice, which was the trigger that led me to start playing. I really like the environment of golf, where you can get moving in nature. And I think the best part of golf is that it trains not only your body but also your mind.
My personal goal is to win a major tournament, and I will continue to work hard to achieve that goal.
(Aio Miura, third year student at Bukkyo University)

Tied for 41st place: Shina Kanazawa(Shina Kanazawa)

I started playing golf at my father's suggestion. Gradually, I started attending golf school and made many friends there. As a result, I got the feeling that practicing golf was like playing with friends, and perhaps this is why I'm still playing golf today.
When I achieve good results, it's not just me who feels good, but the people around me are happy too. I want to continue to be an athlete who lives up to the expectations of those around me.
(Yusuke Suzuki, 3rd year student at Hosei University)

Tied for 41st place: Momoko Osato(Momoko Osato)

I started playing golf at a young age because my father played golf. I think the best part of golf is that it can be enjoyed by people of all ages and can be played in nature depending on the weather.
Since I became a professional, more people have been supporting me and praising me when I play well, so at those moments I feel glad that I am playing golf.
(Daiki Shimada, 3rd year student at Kokugakuin University)

58th place Miyu Goto(Miyu Goto)

The reason I started playing golf was because of Ai Miyazato. I was originally in poor health, and when I was hospitalized as a child, I saw Ai Miyazato on TV and thought, "I want to be like Ai."
When I hit a good shot in front of a large gallery, I get an indescribable feeling of satisfaction, and it's a moment when I feel glad that I'm playing golf.
(Maeda Renho, second year student at Chuo University)

67th place tie: Ayaka Watanabe(Ayaka Watanabe)

My father was the one who got me started on golf. He taught me with the goal of having fun as a family, so I was able to continue without any pressure. Because I'm bigger than the other players, I was able to increase the distance I could hit the ball, which made golf more fun.
Golf is a sport where you play against nature, and your play changes depending on the weather and environment. The appeal is that you can discover something different every time you play.
(Saeki Sakura, second-year student at Hosei University)

Tied for 67th place: Hwang Arum(Au-Reum Hwang)

I started playing golf at the recommendation of my parents. In the 2000s in Korea, golf wear cost 20,000 yen per piece. I was able to continue playing golf despite that because of the help I had from those around me. I was in a very fortunate environment, with support from my parents and kind people who offered me opportunities to take lessons.
I was able to devote myself to golf because I was able to practice in a good environment from my junior days onwards. I believe that golf is all I have, and I would like to continue to produce results.
(Yusuke Suzuki, 3rd year student at Hosei University)

73rd place Ayako Kimura(Ayako Kimura)

When I was about 30 years old, I saw Ai Miyazato signing autographs and was inspired by how loved she was by everyone, so I started playing golf. Golf is a sport where you never know what the right answer is each time, and what worked well yesterday may not work the next day, so it's really interesting to be able to keep trying until you reach your goal.
I had been aiming to become a professional golfer since I started, but as I cleared one challenge, new goals appeared one after another, so I think I was able to continue playing golf happily. When I am able to inspire many people, I feel glad that I continued playing golf.
(Daiki Shimada, 3rd year student at Kokugakuin University)

That's it, qualifying

Megumi Shimokawa(Megumi Shimokawa)

I started playing golf about 30 years ago because my parents played golf. I'm not very good at sports, but golf was the one sport I was able to shine in. Things don't always go as planned, so the excitement I feel when I do play well is addictive. When I think about it, I feel that everything about golf is the best part.
When I get good results, I feel glad that I continued playing golf. From now on, I would like to continue training and improving every day, aiming for my first victory.
(Daiki Shimada, 3rd year student at Kokugakuin University)

Ayami Ozeki(Amiyu Ozeki)

Influenced by my father and grandfather who were golf teaching professionals, I started playing golf at the age of 6. I have been playing golf for over 10 years, repeating the same cycle of "I'm happy when I win a match and frustrated when I lose."
I think golf is a sport with many attractions. Because the rounds are long, you can become friends with the people you play with, there are 14 clubs to choose from, and you can experience nature firsthand. Golf is also a battle against nature, and it's fascinating to see how the same course looks different depending on the weather.
(Yusuke Suzuki, 3rd year student at Hosei University)

■Eri Fukuyama(Eri Fukuyama)

I started playing golf when my father took me to a driving range when I was in the sixth grade of elementary school. This year marks my 18th year in the sport.
The great thing about golf that I've felt over the past 18 years is that anyone can play it, regardless of age or gender. I think it's fascinating that anyone can experience and share the thrill of hitting a great shot. I think everyone is looking forward to not only playing, but also interacting with all kinds of people.
(Yusuke Suzuki, 3rd year student at Hosei University)

■ Kana Nagai(Kana Nagai)

My parents were the reason I started playing golf. Both my parents played golf, and there was a driving range near our house, which I think was a big factor. I also think my father's strong desire to make his daughter a professional golfer was an influence.
Unlike other sports, it doesn't involve hard movements that leave you out of breath, but it's a very deep sport that requires physical strength, mental strength, and all aspects of the body and mind, so it's a lot of fun.
(Maeda Renho, second year student at Chuo University)

Mizuki Murakami(Mizuki Murakami)

I started playing golf when I accompanied my father to practice. I think I was able to continue playing for so long, since I was in elementary school, because it was purely fun. I enjoyed improving every day with each match and practice.
The best part of golf is that whether you do well or not, it's all down to your own ability. I have many goals for the future, but first I'll focus on the tournament in front of me and do my best.
(Aio Miura, third year student at Bukkyo University)

■Keiko Yamamoto(Keiko Yamamoto)

I originally played softball, but my father encouraged me to take up golf before I entered high school. When I started, I felt pressured because everyone around me was good at golf. That's why I felt so happy when I played well, and I began to enjoy golf.
I will continue to work hard so that I can always be a player who fights for victory.
(Saeki Sakura, second-year student at Hosei University)

Ai Suzuki(Ai Suzuki)

When I was in the fifth grade of elementary school, my younger sister saw Ai Miyazato and said she wanted to start playing golf, so my father suggested that I join her and I started playing golf. To be honest, I wasn't enthusiastic at first, but when I was in the third grade of junior high school, I placed highly in a tournament and played a round overseas on a course that was completely different to those in Japan, which made me realize how much fun golf is.
The support of so many people makes my work worthwhile. I will continue to work hard to live up to their expectations.
(Saeki Sakura, second-year student at Hosei University)

Momoko Uete(Momoko Uete)

When I was in the third grade of elementary school, my older sister started playing golf under the influence of my father, and I started accompanying her to practice, and I also started practicing together. Even though I wanted to play with my friends, I found myself heading to the practice range before I knew it, and I became more and more obsessed with the sport.
I think the appeal of golf is that there is no other sport where you can communicate with a variety of people, regardless of age or gender.
(Saeki Sakura, second-year student at Hosei University)

Haruka Kawasaki(Haruka Kawasaki)

When I was 7 years old, influenced by my golf-loving father, I started playing golf with my sister. To be honest, there were times when I found it difficult, but I was able to continue because I was happy when I achieved good results. I think the best part of golf is being able to experience the happy moments when you hit the shot you wanted or beat your best score.
My strength is attacking golf, so I would like to continue playing aggressively and work hard to improve in the future.
(Saeki Sakura, second-year student at Hosei University)

■ Momoko Kishibe(Momoko Kishibe)

I started playing golf when I was in the third grade of elementary school. My older sister was playing golf, and my younger sister and I went to watch her play. I think the best thing about golf is that it's a sport that anyone can enjoy, regardless of gender or age.
My motivation is always to give back to the people who support me. Last year, I was able to get a seed for the first time, so this year I will do my best to win.
(Aio Miura, third year student at Bukkyo University)

Lee Bo-mi(Bo-Mee Lee)

After Pak Se-ri won the US Championship, there was an unprecedented golf boom in Korea at the time. Many people around me started playing golf, so I followed that trend and started playing golf at the age of 11.
The best part about golf is two unique features. First, there are 14 clubs. I don't think there are many sports that require so much equipment. Second, it takes about a day to play a round. There is no other sport where you play with the same people for such a long time. Another appealing aspect is that you can build deep relationships with the people you play with.
(Yusuke Suzuki, 3rd year student at Hosei University)
