Terry Ito Column Vol.8 Why not try some bad boy fashion for once in your life?
Isn't it good to have a "delinquent period" at some point in your life? I've been thinking about this recently. Let's think about it in terms of fashion. These days, most young people go out on the town wearing Uniqlo-style clothes or sportswear, such as the popular North Face, and brand-name sneakers. Of course, this kind of refreshing outfit is sure to be well-received by women.
But one day, when I look back on my long life, won't this be boring? It'll be too pathetic if all the photos from my youth are of Uniqlo. It'll be too boring. Back then, I used to go on dates in those clothes, I was being stubborn, I was acting like a delinquent, and that's what's good about it!

For example, Yujiro Ishihara, Hiroshi Tachi, Koichi Iwaki, Ryudo Uzaki... they all seemed like delinquents in their youth.
Yujiro had a Shintaro cut, while Tate and Iwaki wore leather jackets and pompadours, riding around town on Harley Davidsons. Looking at old photos of the two of them, they exude a scary aura that makes it hard to get close to them. Even Uzaki Ryudo looked great in a cheap white jumpsuit and sunglasses! He's actually a nice guy...
I'll tell you straight out! The important thing in life is to have a bad past!!
Middle-aged stars in the entertainment industry who had fun when they were younger, such as Tachi Hiroshi, Iwaki Koichi, and Yazawa Eikichi, all look radiant.
Although they have passed away, I wanted to see how these rowdy guys like Kenichi Hagiwara, Yusaku Matsuda, and Johnny Okura have aged... I wanted to see the gap in their lives. It's such a shame.
I too have always wanted to say, "I was a bad boy when I was young! I don't really want to talk about my past." Unfortunately, I've always worn pick-up fashion and I never had the guts to become a delinquent. I feel ashamed of myself for that.
Reflecting on my life, I want to encourage everyone to try out a delinquent style, as it's still not too late! I'm not recommending the special attack uniforms favored by biker gangs.
First, as a beginner, I'd like you to try on a SCHOTT rider's jacket. They come in single and double sizes, but if you don't have a belly, I definitely recommend the double! You can get one for 20,000 yen at a second-hand clothing store. Side-gore boots are a good choice for shoes! Next is a sukajan jacket. Vintage items are too expensive and actually look bad. Leave that to the collectors! You can get a good one in Okachimachi or Ameyoko for around 10,000 yen. A cheap tiger print is even better! Real delinquents don't have money, so they can't afford expensive clothes. When spring comes, I'd like you to try wearing a bright suit with a flashy aloha shirt!
The philosophy of bad fashion is, "Never dress casually!"
Why not give it a try? It will surely change your life!
