My time as a university student was probably the time in my life when I had the most free time and was able to do what I loved. I learned the basics of work and the difficulties of earning money through part-time work, and the communication skills I developed there are extremely useful in my current job.
I started job hunting very late, around the third semester of my third year. I hadn't even decided what industry I wanted to work in, and the only thing I had in mind was "I want to work in a job that involves overseas." Then, when I got a job at Ryoshoku (now Mitsubishi Foods), I came into contact with the internet for the first time, and was amazed at how convenient it was, which made me want to work in a job related to the internet.
With this in mind, I decided to start my own business and quit my job. However, after that, my father's company, which I had been helping out with for a while, went bankrupt. The reason for this was that although I had sales and marketing skills, I lacked knowledge of finance, accounting, and management. I then studied finance, accounting, management, and the Internet intensively, and studied accounting at a management consulting firm for several years, before finally starting my own business.
■ Focusing on recruitment to create a company that will last for 100 years
Our customer acquisition services have the number one market share in the furniture and interior industry. Through marketing analysis, we approach customers in a way that suits them, resulting in high customer satisfaction and a repeat customer rate of 90%.
We also aim to be a company where women can easily work, and more than half of our employees are women. We also have established work rules such as paid leave and overtime, and have made it a rule to avoid long working hours, creating an environment where employees can easily work.
Hoping that this company will continue for 100 or even 200 years, we have set the goal of becoming a "100-year company" and are working hard to develop our personnel and organization. In particular, we place great emphasis on recruitment, and actively hire people who agree with the company's management philosophy.
■Advice for students
Learn from a variety of people and form your own beliefs. Also, think about your life and the path you want to take as soon as possible. It's also very important to learn languages and be able to speak with people from other countries. In the future, there will be more opportunities for foreigners to become subordinates. In such cases, I think it will be easier to interact with them if you are familiar with foreign cultures and ideas.
