Knowing I wanted to start my own business in the future, I enrolled in a vocational school to study project management. After joining the University of Tokyo Entrepreneurship Club, I started my own company at the age of 20. Although sales were steady at first, the company went bankrupt five years later. This was because I prioritized profit too much, which alienated customers and employees. Learning from this bankruptcy, I resolved to create a "socially meaningful company that contributes to more people" next time.

■ It is important to provide value to people through "We Thinking"
I then joined ZIGExN Co., Ltd., and three years later, through an M&A, I was asked to become president of Rejob. Rejob operates a recruitment media business specializing in the beauty and healthcare industries, and was addressing industry issues such as high recruitment costs and high turnover rates, and promoting reforms to significantly reduce recruitment costs. I decided to take on the role of president, believing that the company could grow by solving these issues through its business.
The first thing I did after becoming president was to interview all employees. I wanted to learn as much as possible about our members and services. After these interviews, I learned that there are many members at Rejob who "speak from a company-wide perspective, putting the company at the center of it all," and "want to solve social issues through business and make the world a better place." From there, we launched new businesses, such as a nursing care business and a CSV promotion project, and are tackling the challenge of integrating business with the community.
At Rejob, we are not just a group of "I" members, but rather a group of "We" members who want to contribute to our customers, the industry, and society. In particular, our members, who are mainly new graduates and are candidates for executive positions, have a strong sense of ownership and take on the challenge of creating businesses and organizations with ambition and passion every day. And, as president, I find it rewarding to have been able to increase the foundation on which our members' ambitions can be realized.

■Advice for students
I recommend taking action to broaden your potential. One specific example of action is to jump into a new community, even if it means stretching yourself, in the areas that interest you. I myself took the plunge and joined an entrepreneurship club when I was a student, and that has led me to where I am today. Jump into the stretch zone, broaden your potential, and accelerate your growth.
