Terry Ito Column Vol.19 "King of Wastefulness Instagram" has started
I started Instagram a little late. Maybe it was because I was prejudiced or just not interested, but even though my friends were on it, I wasn't really interested. I don't feel like posting on Instagram every day about what I ate or where I went. It's too much of a hassle. And most of all, I don't want people to know too much about my private life. I thought I was far removed from such things, but one day I woke up and suddenly thought, "I'm starting Instagram!"...and that's where it all started.
That said, I'm sure people wouldn't be interested in photos of my daily life, like food. First of all, I'm not a big foodie. My favorite foods are curry rice, hamburgers, nabeyaki udon, and pasta—the same dishes my kids like. I'm not a gourmet, either. I only have a few favorite restaurants. At this rate, I'd be done in two weeks. Even if I were to introduce popular spots in my hometown of Kamakura, it wouldn't be fresh because everyone else knows more about them. I love cars, but I always introduce rare used cars on my YouTube channel "Comedy Backdrop," so there's no point in doing the same thing again. When I talked to Yoshitake Fumi, who co-hosts with me on TBS Radio's "Terry Ito, Showa Boretsu Tengoku," he advised me, "Fashion is definitely a good idea! Why not introduce the clothes you wear every day when you go out?" While I certainly have an astonishingly large closet of clothes, I tend to wear the same clothes I have around me every day. Changing them every day would probably be a pressure. This was the situation even before I started.
I agonized. I thought about it. I've decided! I'm going to introduce some of the strange, meaningless treasures I've acquired over the years. After all, I'm known as the "King of Waste." I have so many of these that the closet door won't close. I've bought things thinking they were the best, but many of them are things that the average person wouldn't be interested in. For example, the shoes designed by Japanese designer Tatehana, beloved by Lady Gaga, became a hot topic. They were so cool that I asked him to make a pair for me. They're difficult to wear, but I persevered. This top hat, made in 1894, exudes a melancholic presence. I own the same model of the Stars and Stripes helmet worn by Peter Honda in the classic 1970s Hollywood film "Easy Rider." I also own a creepy wooden insect the size of a human... and more.
I've already posted it on Instagram, so please take a look and laugh! However, the number of followers is so small it's almost laughable. Currently there are 204. People are teasing me and saying that I'm "unpopular." So I'm determined to make my Instagram more interesting!! Everyone, please "Terry Ito InstagramPlease subscribe to "!! Please laugh. That said, I'm the type of person who easily gets bored, so I might stop using Instagram soon after calling it "Season 1".
