■Please tell us what made you decide to become a model.

It all started when my mother told me, "You have long limbs and you always practice your smile in front of the mirror, so you could become a model." But then my mother got ill...
I started modeling in earnest when I was in the third year of junior high school because I wanted to quickly tell my sick mother that I had become a model.
I didn't want to be unable to enjoy life because I was poor and had to blame my family or someone else, so I decided to do everything I wanted to do in high school. That's why I was so busy. I delivered newspapers early in the morning, and after that I would prepare for class. I cooked dinner for my family before going to school. After class I would join clubs, do part-time jobs, and audition for modeling agencies. That was my lifestyle.

■What is the secret to always staying positive?

I believe that all mishaps and troubles are food that make me stronger. If you overcome difficulties with wisdom and ingenuity, without a victim mentality, you will one day be able to empathize with someone in trouble, and the wisdom you gain will become a weapon or tool that you can use to overcome your next struggle. All humans are born to be happy in this world. That's why I cherish the mindset that "what is happening now is happening to help me expand my capacity and become happy."

■Please give us a message for students

■After the interview
The moment we met, the atmosphere on set brightened up and was filled with a warmth. I was impressed by how they answered each question sincerely and carefully, making eye contact with each person. They shared so many wonderful stories that gave me courage and hope.
