38th Mynavi Tokyo Girls Collection 2024 SPRING/SUMMER - Yuna Taira

March 2, 2024 (Saturday) at the National Yoyogi Stadium First Gymnasium38th Mynavi Tokyo Girls Collection 2024 SPRING/SUMMER' was held.
The theme of this edition is "A Profusion of Flowers." The moment when all the flowers bloom together is a dreamlike moment that also harbors a sense of transience. With the arrival of spring, we spoke to actress and talent Yuna Taira, one of the many splendid performers at Mynavi TGC 2024 S/S.

■First appearance at TGC in 5 years!

TGC is filled with things that girls dream of. This year was my first time at TGC in five years, and I got to perform on the stage in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, which promotes a carbon-free society. Based on the theme of recycling clothing resources, I appeared in a stylish outfit made from old car seats and seatbelts. It was a fashionable look, but it had lots of pockets, so it was very convenient! I think it was a stage performance that helped raise awareness of carbon-free efforts for the younger generation. I'm normally a person who laughs a lot, so I was excited to be on stage and I was sure to be bursting with smiles, but I was conscious of looking cool in combination with my fashionable outfit.

■ Cherish the once-in-a-lifetime encounter

I made my debut in the entertainment industry 13 years ago. It all started when my mother applied for me for a movie audition without me knowing. I was shy and nervous from a young age, but I think I've been able to continue this far because I enjoy the sense of accomplishment I get when I'm on stage. Even now, I feel embarrassed when attention is focused on me, but knowing that all my fans are waiting for me motivates me to work hard.
I feel that working in the entertainment industry is always about communicating with people. Even on just one set, you meet countless people. Even years or even decades later, it's always a joy to meet someone again on set after a long time. Meeting people from all different fields is inspiring, so I value these once-in-a-lifetime encounters. I'm doing what I love for a living, so I want to continue enjoying and challenging myself. For example, I've never sang through a role in a play, so I'd love to try that. I believe life is full of challenges, so I'm really looking forward to the work I'll be doing in the future.

■Message to university students

I was also a student until three years ago. I was very busy balancing my studies with work, but I am really glad that I went to university. In addition to what I learned in lectures, I was also able to learn about various values, which has been useful in my acting.
Your student days are a time when you can decide for yourself which courses to take and use the remaining time freely, such as working part-time or improving your skills for the future. Once you enter society, it becomes difficult to find time to reflect on yourself, so I hope you will make the most of the time you have in front of you.
