Born May 7, 1979 in Kanagawa Prefecture. Made his acting debut in 1995. He has appeared in numerous popular films both in Japan and overseas. He has a wide range of talents, including stage, music, modeling, and writing. He also focuses on producing his own YouTube channel, the sake brand "Fukugiri," and the golf apparel brand "8G SHOOT."

◆Please tell us what made you enter the entertainment industry.

This was influenced by my mother, who loved celebrities. From a young age, I was told that I was suited to the entertainment industry, and I had a vague interest in it. Later, through a connection with the president of an entertainment agency who was an acquaintance of my mother, I made my acting debut as soon as I graduated from junior high school. At the age of 22, I became the youngest person ever to win the Japan Academy Award for Best Actor for the film "GO." This experience made me decide to pursue a life as an actor.

◆What is fun and rewarding about being an actor?

The appeal is being able to become many different people and do many different things. Each role has its own life, and if you immerse yourself in it wholeheartedly, you will be able to live as that person. Life is a one-time, one-way ticket, so I want to experience as many things as possible, and for someone as greedy as me, this is the most rewarding thing. In the end, the role I played feels so real that it makes people think, "Couldn't this exist in real life?" and the moment I'm able to connect fiction and reality is the most enjoyable.

◆Please tell us your future goals and dreams.

I want to create a better "now." I'm also trying my hand at theater, pottery, and starting a golf apparel brand, but the underlying idea is to enjoy the "now" to the fullest. I want to continue challenging myself in my own way to make the "now" better.

◆Please give us a message for the students.

I hope you will embrace change. You never know what will happen in life. In other words, that's all the freedom you have. Even if something happens, I hope you will live positively, knowing that it will all lead to fun in the future.

The moment he appeared, I was drawn into Kubota's world. He answered my questions sincerely, and there was a coolness to him that made me feel his artistic talent. I resolved to live positively so that I too could enjoy the present to the fullest, just like Kubota.
