Noshin Pure has released a web video to support students taking exams. It provides support for those who are worried about exams and menstruation.

With the Common University Entrance Examination taking place on January 18th and 19th, menstrual pain medication brand Noshin Pure (Arax Co., Ltd.) (CEO: Arakawa Shintaro, location: Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture) has released an online video that delves into the relationship between exam time and menstruation, something that has not been discussed much until now, in order to better understand the feelings of teenagers. In the video, singer-songwriter Tota has produced an original song, depicting high school students facing exams while also experiencing their periods in their daily lives. We spoke to Nagase Hinata of the Planning Department Planning Division about this initiative.
Arax's work and efforts to address menstrual issues
Arax manufactures and sells products that solve consumer problems, such as over-the-counter medicines, hygiene products, and cosmetics. One of its main products, the menstrual pain medication "Noshin Pure," has been consistently promoted to its main target audience, teens, since its launch in 2000.
When our team reconsidered what it means to "support teens," we realized that for teenagers, "exams" are an important theme that marks a turning point in their lives.
We began this initiative around spring last year, thinking that by taking up the topic of "exams and menstruation," which has not been touched upon much until now, Noshin Pure, a brand of menstrual pain medication, would be able to better connect with teenagers.
Video production depicting daily life with menstruation
The web videos we produced as part of this project consisted of two parts: one depicting the daily lives of exam-takers, and the other describing the concerns they face due to their periods. Our goal was not to raise awareness of menstrual symptoms, but to let as many people as possible know the frustration of not being able to concentrate or work hard as you'd like, as well as the constant anxiety of worrying about what to do if your period coincides with an exam day. We also hope that this video will spark gradual change in the regional differences between prefectures regarding how exam retakes and rescheduling are handled due to menstruation.
Message to examinees
While working on the theme of "exams and menstruation," we launched an information site called "Pure Memo." Our survey revealed that 6% of students find menstrual symptoms "distressing," and that 7% experience anxiety related to exams and menstruation. We hope that this site, which introduces ways to deal with menstrual cycles and menstrual pain, will help students feel less anxious and find ways to deal with menstruation that suit them. If you have any concerns or worries, please talk to those around you, get the appropriate information, and get ready for your exams. We hope that our project will be of some help.
