"Conditions for a Professional Girlfriend: Women Who Want to Marry Celebrities" Season 3

The fierce women are back! Cast members of "Professional Girlfriend" Season 3 talk about the appeal of the show

Rio Komiya / Kohaku Shida / Reika Sakurai

The highly anticipated third season of the short drama "Professions for a Professional Girlfriend: Women Who Want to Marry Celebrities," which has been a hot topic on social media, began airing on August 6th.
We spoke to Shida Kohaku, Sakurai Reika, and Komiya Rio about how they felt when they found out they were going to appear in the film, how they prepared for their roles, and what the highlights of the film are.

Q: How did you feel when you found out you were going to appear?

Shida: I knew that she was a hot topic on TikTok and YouTube recommendations, but after I found out she was going to be appearing in season 3, I watched series 1 and 2. I was looking forward to it, but it was my first time playing a role where I had to dominate those around me, so I was very nervous.

Sakurai: I had seen the footage circulating on social media and knew it was a popular work. I was really looking forward to being in the role, but from the perspective of an actress and actor, the presence of a professional girlfriend was a little intimidating, and I felt anxious about how I should act.

Komiya: I was also aware of the series, so I was very happy to be asked to appear in Season 3. I was acquainted with Naito Shuichiro, who appeared in the previous series, so I was delighted to be able to work with him this time, and we had a great time filming.

Q: What did you keep in mind when creating your character?

Shida: The character I play, Namima Yuki, is a serious new assistant director, but falls in love with an actor she meets on set with, and goes to extraordinary lengths to get him. Yuki's true nature is revealed in the monologues, so I made sure to exaggerate my voice a little during the monologues. I hope you'll pay attention to the difference between his outward behavior and his monologues.

Sakurai: The character I played, Kotone, is a character who constantly tries to trap the main character, Yuki. He's not a good person, but I think the way he's perceived varies from person to person. Yuki himself is a pretty punchy character, so I tried to create a character that goes even further than that, bringing my own inner sharpness into the acting. I think I was able to create the kind of "fierce battles" that fans of this work are looking for, just like in the previous work.

Komiya: My character is someone who falls in love with Namima Yuki, played by Shida. Since I was playing an actor like myself, I didn't prepare for the role too much and just projected my everyday self onto it. The setting was a detective drama, and I had a lot of conversations with Yuki during break scenes during filming, so I tried to act in a way that reflected my everyday communication with the cast and staff, while thinking back to how I actually behave on set.

Q: What are the highlights of season 3 of the drama "Professional Girlfriend's Conditions: Women Who Want to Marry Celebrities"?.

Shida: As Sakurai mentioned earlier, there are scenes with explosive sparks flying, just like in seasons 1 and 2. Rena and Kazusa, who also appeared in seasons 1 and 2, also make an appearance, so I think fans of the series will enjoy this episode as well.

Sakurai: I think that the quality of the research throughout seasons 1 and 2 is amazing, and gives it a strangely real feel. As a viewer, I was also curious about the world of Minato Ward girls, so I think it's interesting to be able to peek into it and relive it. This time, the setting is a filming location, and there are times when you think, "That can't be!" Or rather, I'd like to think, "That can't be!" (laughs). But there were many moments, such as the atmosphere on set, that made me think, "I can relate," so I hope that everyone will enjoy watching and experiencing that realism.

Komiya: The schedule was tight because we were shooting a short drama, but I think we were able to produce a good work precisely because everyone was focused on making something good. As Sakurai said, the story is set on a drama set, so those of us in the entertainment industry will often think, "Ah, that's true," and I think viewers will also discover, "So this is the world we live in." I hope you will enjoy the interesting world of "Professional Girlfriend's Conditions" as fiction, and I would encourage anyone who hasn't seen seasons 1 and 2 to start from the beginning.

Q: Please give us a message for students.

Shida: Right now, I feel every day that I am able to do what I love and have fun. I think there are all kinds of people out there, some working hard towards their dreams and some searching for their dreams, but I think it's important to do what you love and live positively. Try not to be negative as much as possible, be a positive person, and try to do as many things as you can now, gain as many experiences as you can, and make your dreams come true. I'm rooting for you.

Sakurai: As you become an adult and spend more time at work, there are times when you lose track of what you enjoy and what you like. I feel like there are surprisingly many opportunities to introduce yourself at work, but I started working at an early age and I'm not particularly involved in any club activities, so I often find it difficult to find common topics to talk about. However, students have plenty of time, can go anywhere, and can experience anything. I'm sure you've all had your own experiences, but nothing is wasted, including play, and I believe that everything you do will become your weapon once you enter society. Believe in what you like and what you believe in, and if you're going to play, play. If you're going to play, play. I hope you do what you love to the fullest.

Komiya: Please cherish the people who get angry at you. If you don't have any feelings for them, they won't get angry. They get angry because they don't want you to make any more mistakes and they're rooting for you to grow. I think that's their own way of showing consideration. That's why I want you to realize that it's so important when they get angry. I started this job when I was 17, and until I was about 20, I was often scolded by my co-stars and directors, but there were times when I couldn't accept it honestly. Only now have I realized how much their anger was for me. Right now, every time someone gets angry at you, you might think, "They're so noisy," or "Why are they so angry?", but it will lead to something very important for you in the future, so please cherish the people who get angry at you.
