■Yuki Inamori

I think the appeal of golf lies in the open feeling of being able to play in nature and the wide variety of course locations. My parents ran a driving range, which is what prompted me to start playing golf, and I've been playing competitively since I was in the first grade of elementary school. I have a competitive personality, and I think that's what's allowed me to continue playing by competing with strong players my age. My goal for the future is to win a major tournament. I would encourage all university students to try out golf in a casual way, such as playing simulation golf or at a driving range. If you're even slightly interested, I encourage you to go and watch a match.
■Kazuki Higa
I started playing golf when my father took me to the golf course on a day off from club activities. I think the most attractive thing about golf is the exhilarating feeling you get when you hit the ball far with a driver shot. I also started playing golf because I was attracted to that feeling. My goal this season is to first win one game. After that, I would like to work hard so that I can win multiple times. For all university students, golf is a sport that will be useful in many ways when you enter the workforce and you will surely become addicted to it, so I encourage you to take the first step and give it a try.

■Uetake hope

Golf is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and generations. I started playing golf at the age of three and have played rounds with people over 80 years old. Spending nearly five hours together sparks conversation, allowing me to learn about the other person's playing style and personality, making it a truly fascinating sport. The driving force behind my continued play is the sheer love of golf. The game is interesting precisely because it's not fair, with variations due to weather, terrain, and even luck. This year, I will focus on recovering from my injury, aiming to return next year. I encourage all university students to try golf and enjoy it, using it as an opportunity to hone their character.
■ Rui Kitada
The reason I started playing golf was because my father loved it. I've been playing since I was 10 years old, and I've learned a lot that applies to life, not just technique, but also rules and etiquette. I feel that this has become the foundation for me as a professional and as a person. The driving force that has allowed me to continue playing is my desire to make those who support me happy. I'm currently raising my children, and I hope to eventually return to the senior tour. I would like to encourage all university students to cherish the connections you make with people through golf.

■Hikaru Teranishi

I think the appeal of golf is that it can be enjoyed by people of all ages, genders, and levels. Another appealing aspect is that it allows each player to utilize their own strengths, such as distance and short game. I started playing golf when I was four years old, inspired by my father. I wasn't very good at practicing, but the excitement of ranking in tournaments motivated me to continue. My next goal is to first pass the professional test, and then qualify for the men's tour. I hope that all university students will continue to enjoy golf and be themselves. I will also work hard to become a player who can serve as a role model for others.
■Momoka Miura
The most appealing aspect of golf is the distance you can hit the ball with a driver. The exhilarating feeling you get when you hit the ball and the ease of your second shot are also appealing. I started playing golf in the third grade of elementary school, and my desire to see the friends I made at national tournaments and other events motivated me to continue playing. Currently, I continue to work as a teacher and in the media, while striving to remain a presence that people choose. Now that I've begun my correspondence course as a first-year university student, I've once again realized how much fun learning can be. I urge all university students to cherish the time they have and give their all to both play and study.

■Shigeki Maruyama

My first encounter with golf was when I was three years old and received a plastic club from my father. I started playing seriously in the fourth grade of elementary school, and looked forward to going to the driving range with my father. The appeal of golf is that you are entirely responsible for it, and it is a deep game, with your sense changing every day and testing your IQ in terms of how to avoid mistakes and manage the course. I would like to tell young people that golf is a sport that you will be glad you took up. It is a sport that can be enjoyed even after you are over 80 years old, and it is a recommended sport that can also lead to connections in business and society.
■Press interview ~Thoughts on Shigeo Nagashima~
Hajime Satomi (Chairman and Representative Director of SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS INC.)
I have known Coach Nagashima for many years and have many anecdotes about him. One time, during a morning walk at a hotel, a tourist called out to Mr. Nagashima, and we ended up taking a photo together, with me acting as the photographer. (laughs) Coach Nagashima was such a friendly guy, and he always looked out for me even after he was no longer able to come to tournaments. I am really glad that we were able to hold this pro-am tournament in the form of a Nagashima Shigeo Memorial.
Isao Aoki
Nagashima was a senior in the sports world and Chiba Prefecture to me, and more than anything, he was someone I looked up to. Continuing on from Nagashima, Oh, and new athletes, there are voices in the sports world saying, "I'm here because of that person," and I think that this is like a legend that is passed down. You never know when life will end, and Nagashima's long battle with illness is also part of life, so all I can do now is pray for him to "rest in peace." I believe that sports are truly the culmination of hard work.
Ryo Ishikawa
I never imagined I would meet Mr. Nagashima in my golf career. Even though I don't know him from his playing days, I feel that Mr. Nagashima's influence extends beyond the baseball world and into society. I still vividly remember being amazed by the strength of his left-handed handshake and his powerful words to me. I was young and didn't understand much at the time, but the more time passes, the more I realize how precious this encounter was. It was truly a treasured time.
Yuta Ikeda
I have a personal connection with Mr. Nagashima, and thanks to Chairman Satomi, we have had the opportunity to dine together on several occasions. When he received the People's Honor Award, the player presented him with a gold "3" iron as a commemorative gift. I made it specially light for Mr. Nagashima's physique, and I still vividly remember him being surprised at how light it was, and then swinging it with just his left hand. I am pleased that we were able to hold this Nagashima Memorial Tournament, and I believe that he would be very pleased with it, as it is a way of sending him off.
