The musical "Your Lie in April" is being performed again with a fresh new cast! 

Showa Women's University Hitomi Memorial Hall from August 23rd,ミュージカル『四月は君の噓』has opened. 
"Your Lie in April" is a globally popular comic of the same name written by Naoshi Arakawa and serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine from 2011 to 2015 (11 volumes in total). It was nominated for the 2012 Manga Taisho Award, won the Kodansha Manga Award in the Shonen category in 2013, was adapted into an anime series on Fuji TV's "Noitamina" slot, and was also made into a live-action film that was a huge hit. 
The musical version of this work, which premiered in 2022, was highly praised for its catchy and fresh music, in which master musical composer Frank Wildhorn fully demonstrated his talent as a pop songwriter, its script skillfully incorporating the charm of the original work, the fleeting sparkle and beauty of youth, and the powerful performances by a young, talented cast of leading figures in the Japanese musical world, leading to a thunderous response as the final performance came to a close. 
This time, we participated in a dress rehearsal held at Showa Women's University Hitomi Memorial Hall on August 22, 2025 (with Okamiya Raimu, Kato Ririka, Nozomi Shio, Yoshihara Masato, and others), and a dress rehearsal held at the same venue on August 23 (with Higashijima Kyo, Miyamoto Karin, Yamamoto Saki, Shima Taisei, and others), and a press conference. 

I want you to watch it with your loved ones! ~Interview just before the opening~ 

Q: Now that the dress rehearsal is over, how are you feeling and what are your thoughts? 
Okamiya: They're all so wonderful, I'm really looking forward to getting them to you as soon as possible. 
Higashijima: It's overflowing with energy, so I hope you can feel it directly. Thank you. 
Kato: I thought the venue was really large, but I want to weave together the delicate details while also valuing the energy. 
Miyamoto: I hope that everyone's various feelings will be conveyed. 
Nozomi: I'm looking forward to experiencing youth to the fullest with all the cast members and everyone who comes to see the show. 
Yamamoto: Each cast member is truly unique and a lot of fun, so I hope you'll enjoy the show. 
Yoshiwara: It's so youthful that it's almost embarrassing, but I hope people will accept it without rejecting it. 
Shima: I think handkerchiefs and tissues are essential. That's all! 

Q: This time, there will be a double cast. What are your impressions of each of the actors playing the role of Arima Kousei? 
Okamiya: It's really something different! 
Higashijima: That's right. We are almost like different people. 
Okamiya: Ah, maybe I'm exaggerating... After watching Higashijima's wonderful dress rehearsal, I thought each of the performers' personalities really came out. 
Higashijima: Each character's color, the life they've lived, and the people they've met are all strongly reflected in their roles, so I hope you'll enjoy the combinations. 
Okamiya: He (Higashijima) has experience playing the piano, but I had no experience. He taught me all the time during practice and I worked hard. 
Kato: There's a scene where I play the melodica, and I really do make sounds! My character, Miyazono Kaori, is a unique violinist, so there's a lot of fast playing, and it's hard for my fingers to keep up. For the violin, I filmed videos of people playing from various angles during the performance, and practiced while watching those videos. I'll do my best to massage my fingers beforehand. 

Q: Please tell us your impressions of each other as Sawabe Tsubaki. 
Yamamoto: From the first time we met, it was hard to believe how different the two cast members were... Shio-chan (Kimizu-san) has a high voice, but mine is low. 
Nozomi: Even though we were singing the same song, I would start off singing at a high note to match the key of the song, while Saki-chan (Yamamoto-san) would start off singing at a low note to match the key of the song, so our approaches were completely opposite, which was a lot of fun. 
I've heard that double casts sometimes get depressed when they compare their acting to that of the other person playing the same role, but we were so different that we didn't compare ourselves and were able to practice, saying things like, "So that's how you do it!" and "That's good!" 

Q: Please tell us your impressions of each other as the role of Watari Ryota. 
Yoshiwara: This girl (Shima-san) is the kind of person who brightens up the atmosphere just by being there... 
Shima: I feel a sense of rivalry towards (Yoshiwara-san)! So during the rehearsal period I really hated Masato-kun (Yoshiwara-san) (laughs), but now we've reached a stable period. Now I really love him!!!
Yoshiwara: It's complicated (laughs). I hated it (laughs). 
Shima: But I love it now! 
Yoshiwara: Thank you! (laughs) 

Q: What efforts did you make to play the role of Watari?  
Yoshiwara: I studied Wataru's gestures, sense of excitement, and presence in the original work. 
Shima: Wataru's eyes are very bright, but I usually have dead eyes. The other cast members' eyes are very bright, so I wondered what was missing, and after thinking about it a lot, I seriously wondered if I should go to a hair salon... 
Okamiya: By tomorrow. 
Shima: When the tournament opens tomorrow, it might be a crumpled ferry. 

Q: What was the trigger that led to you becoming closer during rehearsals? 
Okamiya: We all did two lines of sparklers! The first time, Ririka-chan (Kato-san) couldn't make it, so we did it with just seven people. The seven of us formed a circle, played Yuzu's "Glory Bridge," and while each of us lit a sparkler, we talked about our dreams. Thinking about it now, it's really embarrassing, but at the time, I didn't feel embarrassed at all. We all shared the feeling that this is what youth is all about...oh, and I shared it properly with (Kato-san) during the fireworks afterwards! 
Kato: Later, I was forced to talk about my dreams by myself (laughs). 
Okamiya: We are probably the first company to come together with fireworks, and I don't think there will be anyone else like that again (laughs). 

Q　Finally, please give us a message from the two actors who play Arima Kousei. 
Higashijima: "Your Lie in April" is not a film that "reminds you of your youth," but rather a film that allows you to feel how brilliant the present moment is, which everyone has equally, so I would be delighted if you could come to the theater with someone special. 
Okamiya: After watching this film, I felt like I had to tell something to the people I care about, and I felt grateful for the friends who supported me as I overcame my own difficult experiences. Everyone in the film is shining brightly as they move forward, driven by the present moment, living in their youth, and I hope everyone will experience that at the theater.

Overwhelmingly powerful! ~Student report~ 

Because it's a double cast, even though it's the same story, I was able to see new sides to the characters, which was really fun. 
Okamiya Raimu, who plays Arima Kousei, was also practicing for another production at the same time, but he played a natural and wonderful Arima, and you wouldn't notice that at all. 
Higashijima Kyo has an overwhelming vocal power and seemed like a strong Arima. 
I was very surprised to see that Shima Taisei's facial expression and facial features were completely different from his usual self. 
As Shio Kisui and Saki Yamamoto, who play Sawabe Tsubaki, have said themselves, they are both very different, and even though they are saying the same lines, their approaches to Arima Kousei seem to be completely different, making them seem like polar opposites of each other. 
Please pay attention to the powerful songs that are unique to Toho musicals, as well as the stage set! 
Following Tokyo, we will be on a nationwide tour, so I sincerely hope that we will be able to make it to the final performance without anyone missing!

Since I was familiar with the original novel and the movie, I was really looking forward to the day when I could see "Your Lie in April" as a musical. 
The cast members' singing and dancing were truly ephemeral and beautiful. 
With a double cast, each member had a different personality and acting style, making it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. 
I think this is a work that will be familiar to university students, so please come and see it!
