Macbee Planet Co., Ltd. President and CEO Tomohiro Chiba

Realizing dreams through mindset, passion, and ability

Macbee Planet Co., Ltd. President and CEO Tomohiro Chiba

■ Profile
Born in 1986 / Miyagi Prefecture.
Graduated from the Faculty of Law at Chuo University and passed the Certified Public Accountant exam while still a student.
After working for a major auditing firm, he joined the company in 2018 as head of IPO preparations. He was appointed Representative Director and President when the company transitioned to a group management structure in December 2021. He is leading the business and organizational development of the entire group, aiming to create an organization where all members can thrive.

During his university days, Chiba Tomohiro worked hard to become a certified public accountant, and is currently the CEO of Macbee Planet, Inc., which runs a marketing business that utilizes data. Chiba, who has developed the belief that "mindset x passion x ability = realizing dreams" while working hard with his peers, shared his experiences as a student and a message for students.

During my university years, I wanted to have the tools to compete in society, so I devoted myself to studying for the Certified Public Accountant exam. I originally went on to law school with the aim of becoming a lawyer, but as I deepened my legal studies, I began to feel that it wasn't quite suited to my personality or aptitude. At that time, I remembered a teacher from high school telling me, "Perhaps you'd be better suited to being a Certified Public Accountant than a lawyer," and this was a major catalyst for me to aspire to become an accountant. Looking back, I think that one word significantly changed the direction of my life.
Throughout high school, I played basketball, competing with my friends and pushing each other to improve. It was because of that experience that when I started studying to become an accountant, I was able to work hard with the friends I met at university. While time spent alone at my desk is of course important, the presence of friends who worked hard together inspired me and pushed me forward. There were tough times, but the days when I encouraged and competed with my friends became irreplaceable times for me. Looking back now, the process of that effort and the memories I spent with my friends are my greatest assets, and they have become the foundation of who I am even now, even after I enter the workforce.

■What is Macbee Planet really like and what is its corporate philosophy?

Macbee Planet is a company that supports corporate marketing. We are not just a marketing support company; our mission is to combine consulting and technology to help our clients grow their businesses. One of our most distinctive features is that we employ a performance-based compensation system. This means that the services we provide are evaluated based on whether they directly lead to profits for our clients. We do not simply place advertisements and leave it at that; our results are determined by the number of customers who actually visit and whether they lead to purchases, so our efforts are directly felt and we have an environment that is highly rewarding.
Our approach to advertising is also unique. In the traditional advertising industry, a volume-focused approach that involved continuously running huge amounts of advertising was mainstream. However, we are reassessing investments that do not lead to results, and focusing on designing meaningful touchpoints for users.
In other words, rather than simply increasing the amount of advertising, we place emphasis on delivering information that is valuable to consumers at the right time. As a result, the efficiency and results of the entire marketing effort are improved, and our clients are more satisfied with our efforts.

Macbee Planet's corporate philosophy is "to be an organization that continues to realize dreams and goals together." We believe that dreams are the energy that motivates people and have a great power to attract colleagues. Our dream is to lead the future of Japan as a company that creates the next generation, and the realization of that dream will also lead to the dreams of our partners. This belief is at the core of our organization. We believe in the dreams and unseen possibilities of our partners, and we are fully committed to corporate growth and business expansion, cherishing our continued role as "a presence that realizes dreams and goals together."
On top of that, we also value the mindset of "Thinking x Passion x Ability = Realizing Dreams" when approaching our daily work. This shows the "attitude" that dreams can be realized by having the right mindset, pouring in passion, and continuing to hone our abilities. Each employee continues to grow with this mindset in mind, and this accumulation supports the challenges we face at Macbee Planet.
In our rapidly changing information society, it is essential to be flexible in understanding social trends and create new value, rather than sticking to the old ways. We do not fear change; rather, we see it as an opportunity to create new possibilities, and we aim to realize dreams and goals together with our partners. Continuing to produce results through these repeated challenges is the true joy of working at Macbee Planet, and it is also what makes it so rewarding for me personally.

■What I want to tell students

What I want to tell all students is to value relationships with others. Looking back on my life so far, I realize that neither studying to become a certified public accountant nor playing basketball was something I could have achieved on my own. I believe that it was by working hard together with my teammates and complementing each other that I was able to overcome obstacles and become the person I am today. There were many times when I couldn't do it on my own, and each time I was helped by the support of those around me. I am truly grateful for that.
Once you enter the workforce and join a company, you will have many opportunities to work in a team. Great results can be achieved not only through individual strength, but also through cooperation with colleagues. This is why teamwork, cooperation, and the willingness to help others are so important. The relationships and experiences you build with your colleagues during your student days will definitely be a source of strength for you once you enter the workforce, so I hope you will value your relationships with others, and learn and grow through them.
